Atlus Being Bought-Out by SEGA?

Atlus’ parent company, Index Corporation, recently filed for civil rehabilitation (basically filing for bankruptcy in United States terms). Somewhere in the ballpark of 20 companies have placed bids to purchase Index Corporation, but according to Bloomberg, SEGA Sammy Holdings Inc. (SEGA’s parent company) has won an auction to purchase Index for ¥14 billion (around $141 million US).

Atlus may not be a huge publisher here in the states, but they put out some quality titles. These titles do sell best in China and Japan, but the Shin Megami Tensei series (along with its Persona spin-off series) have garnered much love here in North America over the past few years. Atlus also publishes beloved games like Etrian Odyssey and Trauma Center and even some cult-classics like Catherine, Demon’s Souls, Metal Slug XX, Game of Thrones (the game), The Testament of Sherlock Holmes and most recently Dragon’s Crown.

With many Japanese publishers struggling to sell games on a global scale, maybe SEGA’s acquisition of Atlus is for the best. Atlus put out some spectacular games, but failed to achieve the sales needed to keep the company afloat. Maybe with the SEGA branding, Persona can finally become as big as it should be.

Beta Dates for Battlefield 4!

Battlefield 4 beta dates have finally been announced: October 1 for exclusive access and October 4 for the open beta! With the introduction of levolution and all of the extra features being added, everyone is itching to get a taste. The beta will take place on the Siege of Shanghai map in either Conquest Mode or Domination Mode.

There are multiple ways to get exclusive access: pre-ordering the Battlefield 4 PC Digital Deluxe Edition, which is available on Origin, being a Battlefield 3 Premium member or being a registered owner of Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition. Of course, everyone will have access to the open beta.

Battlefield 4 will release in North America on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 29; PlayStation 4 on November 12 and Xbox One on November 19. In Europe Battlefield 4 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 31; PlayStation 4 on November 29 and Xbox One on November 22.

GTA V Cheats Leaked

With Grand Theft Auto V releasing at midnight, gamers around the world are counting the seconds until they can get their hands on the newest installment of open-world, car jacking fun! Many people were able to snag the game early. Some say Amazon shipped the game early, while others are saying their local Mom-n-Pop shops sold it to them. Take-Two and Rockstar are currently looking into how this happened.

One thing that may even be more important than having the game, would be having some cheats.. Well, rest assured, because GIGAGeekMagazine.com has you covered! Here are 18 cheats leaked by Corrupted Cartridge.

Codes for GTA V need to be entered the old-school way: by button commands (different from GTA IV where you just dialed a number from your cell phone). Enter the code quickly, and you will then see a confirmation blip occur above the map. Please remember, by utilizing cheats in GTA you will be unable to earn Trophies or Achievements. I suggest a play through with cheats, and then one without.

Here is a table compiled to help both PS3 and Xbox 360 owners. Right, Left, Up and Down are for the D-Pad, and the other buttons should be self explanatory. Enjoy!

Halo 4 Lead Director Leaves 343i and Joins the Visceral Games Team

Earlier today in a tweet, lead designer for Halo 4, Scott Warner, announced his new position as Design Director at the EA subsidiary Visceral Games.

Warner spent four years with 343i after working at the now defunct Pandemic Studios (developer of Mercenaries).

Seeing as this news is very fresh, there is no word on what Warner will be working on. I am thinking Dead Space 4, but it could there is a chance he could be working on the next (untitled) Star Wars game?
